Three Bills passed into law during National Assembly

Three bills received their second and third reading and was passed into law during the sitting of the National Assembly on Thursday, July 31st.

One of the bills was the Gaming Control (Amendment) Bill. Prime Minister Drew explained that while private gaming operators must undergo detailed annual licence renewal, including updated due diligence, shareholder disclosures, and employee verifications, such requirements are unnecessary for a statutory public authority like the NLA, which is already subject to a robust framework of financial reporting, ministerial oversight, and parliamentary accountability under its enabling legislation.

Additionally, the National Lotteries Authority Bill, 2025 was also passed in the assembly. This passage will allow the establishment of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) as a body corporate, charged with managing all lottery operations within the Federation. The two bills were introduced by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew

The third bill the Industrial Designs Bill, 2025 was introduced by Attorney General, Hon. Garth Wilkin. It will allow the registration and protection of all Industrial Deigns in the Federation.
