On Aug. 11th 2025, the Special Sustainability Zone (SSZ) Authorization Bill, 2025 was passed in the National Assembly. The Bill sets the stage for designating Special Sustainability Zones or areas developed under strict sustainability, climate resilience, and infrastructure standards, backed by clear rules, transparent governance, and community involvement.
Nevis’ Premier, the Hon. Mark Brantley, in an address on Aug. 25th about the proposal for a Special Sustainability Zone on Nevis, said:
