Seniors Graduate from Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme
Seniors Graduate from Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme
Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew congratulated seniors from Lodge, Ottley’s, Cayon and Keys Village who completed a six-week Chronic Disease Self-Management Programme.
The programme, run by the Ministry for Ageing and Disabilities, helps seniors manage conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure through healthy eating, exercise and practical lifestyle changes.
Dr. Drew encouraged seniors to take small steps to stay healthy, like cutting back on sugar and salt, drinking more water and staying active, even a simple walk to visit a friend counts. He also highlighted the importance of staying connected with the community and participating in programmes that make life more engaging after retirement.
He thanked the Ministry’s team for their work and praises the graduates, reminding them that learning and personal growth does not stop with age. The Government plans to expand the programme so more seniors across the Federation can live healthier, more independent lives.
