Mandatory national recall issued for “Milonga-Cannabis infused tea”
A mandatory national recall for the product “Milonga – Cannabis Infused Tea: Yerba Mate” (ALL FLAVOURS), has been issued SKN’s Bureau of Standards (SKNBS).
SKNBS said on Tuesday Nov. 4th, the product was found “for sale in local retail stores and is not approved for trade or distribution in the Federation.”
A warning for consumers: the product label states it contains 10mg of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is the principal psychoactive component of the cannabis plant. It is classified as a Class A Controlled Drug under the nation’s Drugs Act, making the sale of this product illegal.
“The presence of this unauthorized cannabis-infused beverage in public traded spaces poses a significant risk to public health and safety, especially to children”, SKNBS stated. The recall is being enforced under the Bureau of Standards Regulations SRO 35 & SRO 36, the Drugs (Prevention and Abatement of the Misuse and Abuse of Drugs) Act, and the Customs and Excise Act.
The Bureau of Standards mentioned that “all retailers and distributors are legally required to remove this product from their shelves and stop all sales within 48 hours…failure to comply with this recall order will result in enforcement action.”
