Pap Smear Outreach Set for Saturday across Nevis Health Centers
Post Credit: VON Radio
That was Nurse Deslyn Tyson-White, Coordinator for Community Nursing Services on Nevis, encouraging women to take advantage of the free Cervical Cancer Screening (this Saturday) January 31st 2026.
The screening will take place at all health centers across Nevis from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, expanding access beyond previous years.
Nurse Whyte noted a recent increase in cervical cancer cases within the federation, underscoring the importance of early detection, which significantly improves outcomes.
Women are advised to prepare by avoiding sexual activity for 72 hours before the test as well as douching for 24 to 48 hours, and to ensure at least seven days have passed after menstruation. This is to ensure the test results are as accurate as possible. For more information, residents can contact any Nevis health center by calling the government switchboard at 469 5521.
