Department of Youth Launches Junior and Senior Camp Counselor Programs

The Department of Youth on Nevis has opened applications for its Junior and Senior Camp Counselor Leadership programs ahead of the 2026 Easter Camp from April 7th to 17th. The initiative targets persons interested in leadership, community service, and working with children.

 

The Senior Camp Counselor Program is open to individuals aged 18 and over. Participants will support planning and deliveries of the annual Easter Camp, lead activity groups, attend mandatory training sessions, and assist with camp management. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Youth, et.al., Ms. Zahnela Claxton, gives more details:

 

The other programme for Junior Camp Counselors, is designed for students aged 14 to 17. Junior counselors will assist senior leaders, support campers, and develop communication, confidence, and responsibility through hands-on experience. Participants will also receive mentorship and an incentive. Ms. Claxton gave some encouragement:
