People’s Action Movement (PAM) has sought to set the record straight with regards to a unified approach to the next general elections. For some time, it has been mentioned on social media and radio programs that the political party will be joining with another party and some have suggested that PAM should do so.
In a statement dated Feb. 9th, PAM said it: “wishes to make it clear that no conversations, discussions, or agreements have taken place with any political party regarding a unified or joint approach to the next general elections…No commitments, formal or informal, to any party or individual on this matter.”
Additionally, “any determination on electoral strategy will be made at the appropriate time…The People’s Action Movement will not be pressured by speculation or external commentary”, the party stated.
The party was one of three members of the Team Unity coalition, which included: People’s Labour Party (PLP) and Nevis-based Concerned Citizens’ Movement (CCM). Team Unity was formed in 2013 and held the reins of the Federal Government from 2015 to 2022. The coalition was dissolved in 2022 due to major disagreements, ahead of the snap general election in August.
