Consumer Affairs to Launch Smart Shopper App; Immediate Ticketing Begins Feb. 18

That was Paul Queeley , Director of the St. Kitts Department  of Consumer Affairs speaking about the new SKN Smart Shopper mobile app and website set to launch on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, marking a major step in consumer protection and digital transformation.

 

The platforms will allow consumers to compare prices on 23 food basket categories across major supermarkets across St. Kitts, submit complaints digitally, track complaint status, and access the Consumer Protection Act 2023 in simplified language.

 

Consumers can also report unfair practices, including expired goods and dual pricing. Under the Act, businesses face a $1,000 fixed penalty for selling or displaying expired goods and a $750 fine if customers are charged more at the register than the shelf price. In addition, a new digital ticketing system linked directly to the Magistrate Court will take effect immediately upon launch.
