The Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority’s (NSWMA) Recycling Unit took part in the 5th Anniversary of the Nevis Youth Careers Expo on March 6th at the Cultural Village.

The event gave the team a chance to showcase the work done at the Recycling Facility at the Low Ground Landfill Site. They engaged students, teachers, and visitors, sharing the importance of recycling and responsible waste management.

Students enjoyed interactive board games illustrating the journey of a plastic bottle—from collection to being turned into new products like polo shirts. The process involves collection, compaction, shredding, pelletizing, melting, and spinning plastic into yarn for fabric.

Many students were amazed to see the transformation stages up close, making the experience educational and memorable.

The NSWMA Recycling Unit is committed to educating young people about recycling’s role in protecting Nevis’s environment.
