Women Honoured in St. Kitts and Nevis on International Women’s Day

Prime Minister, the Hon. Terrance Drew has paid tribute to the women of Saint Kitts and Nevis as the Federation marked International Women’s Day.

 

In his message, Dr. Drew highlighted the vital contributions of mothers, teachers, nurses, entrepreneurs, farmers, public servants and community leaders. He expressed gratitude for the women he works alongside and thanked women locally and worldwide for their resilience, leadership and dedication.

 

Meanwhile, the Department of Gender Affairs held its annual International Women’s Day Awards Ceremony on March 8th at Railway Bar in Old Road.

 

Awardees included Naaemah Hazelle, Seana Cuffy, Venetta Zakers, Marcashar Warner, and Marcia Jeffers, recognised for contributions in public service, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship and community leadership. Special honours went to Cynthia Bart, Rita Cable, Denise Baptiste, and Cheniqua Pemberton.

 

The ceremony, which also celebrated pioneering women, was attended by Governor-General Marcella Liburd and other dignitaries.

 

This year’s theme was “Give to Gain.”
