Those were the words of Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), Mr. Timothy Antoine. His comments were made at a recent event to officially launch the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Eastern Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank. The institution will mark its milestone on April 22nd, 2026, under the theme: “A Proven History, A Promising Tomorrow.”
Established in 1996 by eight Eastern Caribbean governments in partnership with the ECCB and regional stakeholders, the institution has played a central role in strengthening the secondary mortgage market across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).
Two major initiatives were unveiled. “The Grant 30” Program will give 30 new investors from the ECCU $1,000 each to invest in the Bank’s products. The Hon. Sir K. Dwight Venner Scholarship will also provide full financial support for an ECCU student at the University of the West Indies.
ECCB Governor Timothy N. J. Antoine highlighted the Bank’s growth from $9 million in 1996 to $500 million today.
Activities through February 2027 include a church service, student app competition, educational video series, gala and a concluding lecture.
