Nevis to launch Island-Wide Recycling Programme in April

A much anticipated island wide recycling expansion programme is set to launch on April 6th, 2026. The initiative will introduce periodical, door-to-door collection of recyclable materials across Nevis.

 

 Residents will be asked to separate plastics, aluminum and metal cans, and clean, dry cardboard for collection. Shelagh James, Recycling Coordinator at the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) gave the VON Newsline an example of how the programme will be conducted:

  

The recycling collection will conducted in a similar manner for other parishes over the coming days. In addition, an official opening of the recycling facility took place to celebrate the work done so far. It also now opens the facility to the public, allowing residents to drop off materials directly. The long-term goal includes public education, school tours, and expanded recycling efforts.
