During the 2026 St. Kitts Music Festival, health officials are encouraging patrons to make safe and healthy choices while enjoying the celebrations.
Speaking during a recent media appearance, representatives from the Ministry of Health highlighted measures being taken to safeguard public health, including increased monitoring of food vendors and event grounds. Patrons are advised to look for vendors who maintain clean food preparation areas, practice proper hygiene, keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold, and provide adequate handwashing facilities.
Health Educator, Nurse Bussue also urged festivalgoers to consume alcohol responsibly. Key recommendations included eating a full meal before drinking to slow alcohol absorption, alternating alcoholic beverages with water to stay hydrated, avoiding drinking games, and never mixing alcohol with medication. Persons living with chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension are reminded to continue taking prescribed medications and to make mindful food and beverage choices throughout the festivities.
Officials also encouraged responsible sexual behaviour during the festival season. Members of the public are reminded that HIV and other sexually transmitted infections remain a concern and are urged to know your status, practice safe sex, and use condoms consistently and correctly to reduce the risk of infection.
