The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has officially broken ground on a new cruise terminal at Port Zante, marking a major step in the federation’s strategy to become a regional homeporting destination. The event took place on July 1st, 2026.
CEO of the St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), Adeola Moore, spoke about what persons can expect from the facility once completed:
Federal Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson said the terminal would strengthen the country’s tourism product, improve the visitor experience and position St. Kitts and Nevis alongside established Caribbean homeports. She also spoke about the timeline for St. Kitts becoming a homeport destination for P and O Cruises in 2027:
Homeporting allows cruise passengers to begin and end their voyages in St. Kitts and Nevis rather than simply visiting for the day, creating greater economic opportunities for the federation.
The initiative is expected to generate more jobs and increase spending across the tourism sector, benefiting taxi operators, vendors, restaurants, hotels and other local businesses.
