The Tabasco pepper initiative in St. Kitts and Nevis continues to advance and is progressing well according to the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Samal Duggins.

Responding to questions on the project’s progress during a recent quarterly press conference, the minister said the venture, known as the Tabasco Pepper Project, has been restructured and expanded. He noted that extensive infrastructure has already been completed, including land clearing, fencing, water lines and ground cover installation, paving the way for crop production. Duggins shared this on the pepper cultivation:

The 100-acre site is located at Fahies Estate in Newton Ground, St. Kitts. The initiative is a collaboration between the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the McIlhenny Company, the makers of Tabasco sauce. The project aims to grow Tabasco peppers locally, process them into pepper mash and export the mash for use in the production of the internationally recognized condiment.
