Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley says the long-awaited Nevis Geothermal Project has reached a major milestone, with drilling expected to begin before the end of the year following the resolution of internal delays.

Speaking at his monthly press conference for July, Brantley shared the latest progress of the project:

Brantley credited the partnership with Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew and the Federal Government for helping unlock international financing needed to advance the project, describing the collaboration as essential to bringing the initiative to fruition. The aim is to develop an initial 30-Megawatt power plant capable of supplying clean, reliable and affordable electricity to both Nevis and St. Kitts.

 The project is supported by approximately US$51.6 million from the Green Climate Fund through the Caribbean Development Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, along with US$20 million from the Saudi Fund for Development.
