That was Federal Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, et. al., Hon. Konris Maynard announcing that a new water source has been found in Saddlers Village.
The announcement came during his contribution to the Sitting of the National Assembly on July 30th, 2026. He also shared:
Maynard said the discovery is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen water security and reduce reliance on rainfall during prolonged droughts. He said the initiative follows hydrogeological surveys that identified 17 potential aquifer sites across St. Kitts.
The minister also highlighted the impact of the recently commissioned two-million-gallon-per-day Basseterre desalination plant, describing it as a key investment that has helped the country manage one of its driest periods in nearly a century.
According to Maynard, about 70 percent of St. Kitts now benefits from a continuous 24-hour water supply, with additional investments planned in storage, pipelines and distribution infrastructure.a
