ECSC celebrates Charles Wilkin, late jurist

The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (St. Christopher and Nevis Circuit) convened a Special Sitting of the Court on Thursday in honour of the late jurist, Mr. Charles L.A. Wilkin, CMG, KC, MA (Cantab), celebrating his contributions to the legal profession and the administration of justice in Saint Kitts and Nevis and across the Eastern Caribbean.

 

The solemn ceremony brought together members of the legal fraternity from across Saint Kitts and Nevis, members of the judiciary and government officials to pay tribute to a man whose commitment to justice left an enduring legacy.

 

Among those delivering tributes were President of the OECS Bar Association, Delano Bart, KC; Anthony Gonsalves, KC; and President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association, Kurlyn Merchant, each reflecting on Mr. Wilkin’s legal career, his mentorship of young attorneys and his impact on the development of the legal profession throughout the region.

 

Also in attendance was the Attorney General of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Garth Wilkin, son of the late Charles Wilkin, along with members of the Bench and Bar, who joined in honouring the life and remarkable legacy of one of the Federation’s most respected legal minds.

Mr. Wilkin passed away on July 25th 2026 at the age of 77 years. His funeral service was held on Aug. 7th 2026.
