St. Kitts & Nevis’ Prime Minister has expressed his “deepest condolences to the Government and people of Colombia,” specifically to the families who lost loved ones, following a powerful earthquake.

The magnitude-7.4 quake struck on Monday Aug. 10^th, in the Chocó region. As of Monday afternoon, official figures say at least 111 people are dead.

The Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew said on social media: “Our thoughts and prayers are also with those who have been injured, those who have lost their homes, and the emergency personnel and rescue teams working tirelessly to save lives and bring assistance to affected communities.”

PM Drew mentioned “at this very difficult time, the people of St. Kitts and Nevis stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Colombia.”

SKN and Columbia established diplomatic relations on January 1^st, 1984. Nationals of both countries can also enjoy visa-free access (for 180 days).
