The VON NEWSLINE received confirmation over the weekend that the Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (NEVLEC) experienced some difficulties where customers in various parts of the island experienced power outages.

According to NEVLEC, this was due to lightning strikes.

In a release, NEVLEC shared that lightning can cause damages to their electrical systems, resulting in power interruptions across the island. The utility company apologized for the interruptions by saying “Our team is working diligently to diagnose and rectify the faults as quickly and safely as possible”.

But is the problem solved?

The VON NEWSLINE spoke to NEVLEC’s General Manager, Nelson ‘Ald’ Stapleton who confirmed that the problem has been solved. He further expounded on the issue:
