In an address, Acting Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley has welcomed students, educators and families to the 2026-2027 school year, emphasizing inclusion, collaboration and shared responsibility for student success.

Hanley highlighted the achievement of Maya Romney, the Federation’s first visually impaired student to sit and pass nine CSEC subjects, including five Grade Ones. He praised Romney’s determination, her mother’s advocacy and the staff and students of the Washington Archibald High School for helping her realize her goals.

Hanley gave this encouragement to students, teachers, parents and the community:

Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley. Meantime, Nevis’ Minister of Education, Hon. Troy Liburd shared this message: “As we welcome our students back for the 2026-2027 school year, we extend our very best wishes for a year filled with learning, growth, discovery, and new stories to write.”

It continued: “Remember, the future is yours, and it begins with the solid foundation built in our schools.  May this new school year be one of purpose, possibility, and success.”

Term 1 for the 2026-2027 Academic Year ends on December 11^th, 2026.
