That was an audio of Nevis’ Gingerland Secondary School being announced as the third place winners in the “I Am Agriculture: Youth in Agriculture” High School Video Competition, highlighting the creativity and potential of young people in Caribbean Agriculture.

The announcement was made during the Opening Ceremony of the 20th Caribbean Week of Agriculture in Trelawny, Jamaica from September 27^th to October 2^nd, 2026.

St. Vincent Girls’ High School of St. Vincent and the Grenadines won first place, while Belize’s Mopan Technical High School placed second.

Gingerland’s entry was represented by four student “Agri Ambassadors”: Shyhedra Daniel, A’Nije Jones, Kezia Griffin and Sarai Fyfield with the support of their Agriculture Science teacher, Somiche Hozier.

By winning the third place position, the Gingerland Secondary School has earned a US$1,000 prize, while first and second place receives US$1,700 and US$1,300, respectively.

According to Teacher Hozier, the money will be used to help the school advance its agricultural programme, including plans to refurbish its shade house and introduce more technology.
