The Ministry of Health in St. Kitts & Nevis will be conducting a National Health Survey dubbed “Steps Survey”.
The Steps Survey is a population based cross-sectional survey, targeting persons between the ages of 18 and 69 years.
The Steps Survey seeks to collect information on the risk factors for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, etc. It will gather data on tobacco use, salt intake, obesity, physical activity and other risk factors. This will be done by randomly selecting households. The Ministry of Health has also received technical support from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
Coordinator at the Health Promotion Unit here on Nevis, is Mrs. Nadine Carty-Caines.
She also gave a date as to when the survey will commence.
