The Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs will begin accepting submissions for new applicants of the Livelihood Improvement Family Transformation (LIFT) Programme (today) Monday, June 17th, 2024.

The LIFT Programme was created by the Labour Administration to replace the Poverty Alleviation Programme (PAP) which functioned during the tenure of the Unity Administration. With the new setup, persons who were previously on PAP had to apply and be evaluated for whether they met the eligibility criteria for the new programme.

With that stage now completed, new applicants both in St. Kitts and Nevis are now being encouraged to submit their information to the ministry. During a press conference centered around LIFT, Permanent Secretary, Ms. Azilla Clarke spoke on some of the issues which were recognized during the setup of the first set of beneficiaries:
