Monday August 2^nd, is a Public Holiday in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Annually, the 1^st Monday in August is celebrated as Emancipation Day marking the end of centuries of oppression and the abolition of slavery.

It is also celebrated as J’ouvert Jump-up as part of Culturama activities here on Nevis.

This year, because of the restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of Culturama activities are postponed until mid-September.

Tuesday, August 3^rd 2021, will also be a Public Holiday.

On July 26^th 2021, the Governor General of the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, acting in accordance with the Cabinet issued a Press Release confirming the holiday.
