August 1st & 2nd recognized as public holidays in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis
Monday August 2nd, is a Public Holiday in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Annually, the 1st Monday in August is celebrated as Emancipation Day marking the end of centuries of oppression and the abolition of slavery.
It is also celebrated as J’ouvert Jump-up as part of Culturama activities here on Nevis.
This year, because of the restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of Culturama activities are postponed until mid-September.
Tuesday, August 3rd 2021, will also be a Public Holiday.
On July 26th 2021, the Governor General of the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, acting in accordance with the Cabinet issued a Press Release confirming the holiday.
