World Autism Month will be celebrated throughout this month commencing on Tuesday, April 2nd.
Every April, World Autism Month is celebrated beginning with the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd. This year marks the 17th annual World Autism Awareness Day. Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a diverse group of conditions, characterized by some degree of difficulty with social interaction and communication. Other characteristics include patterns in behaviour such as difficulty with transition from one activity to another, a focus on details and unusual reactions to sensations.
In the federation, the Department of Youth Nevis is currently holding its Autism Awareness Week where it seeks to inform the public while the St. Kitts Spectrum Services Centre will be holding activities to sensitize the public on the signs, facts and other important information to be known about the spectrum.
