An autopsy, which was performed on the body of the late John Edward Jeffrey on Feb. 5th, confirmed that drowning was the cause of death, a police spokesperson said.
On Saturday February 1st, the Police Force received a report from the SKNDF-Coast Guard of a drowning at Shitten Bay, St. Kitts, which occurred between 11AM and 11:30AM.
Investigations revealed that Jeffrey, 81 and a cruise tourist from London, England (a passenger on vessel Iona), had been snorkelling when he was observed to be stationary in the water.
He was quickly brought aboard the snorkelling tour vessel, but all attempts to resuscitate him proved futile. He was pronounced deceased. This was the first drowning incident in SKN for 2025.
