Autopsy performed on Nevis’ first murder victim for 2024

An autopsy was performed on the body of Joelle Huggins alias “Darling”, of Sugar Mill Grove, Hamilton, Nevis on Thursday May 30th. The autopsy, conducted by Resident Pathologists, Dr Adrian Nuñez and Dr Naudica Phillip, revealed that Huggins, 36, died as a result of hypovolemic shock & massive Hemothorax (left side) as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the back.

 

 

 

The shooting incident occurred on Friday May 24th, at Poinciana Drive, Hamilton and caused the death of Joelle Huggins, and left her brother Julian Huggins, seriously wounded, outside the victims’ home. Initial investigations suggest that both Mr and Ms Huggins were seated inside the vehicle when they were accosted by two (2) armed assailants.

 

 

 

Mr Huggins was found by lawmen laying in a vehicle with bullet wounds to the left leg and abdomen. Ms Huggins, according to police, was fatally shot in while attempting to escape an attack by the armed assailants. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

 

Since then, Raphael Wallace also of Hamilton, was formally charged by police on two warrants in the first instance for Murder and Attempted Murder. Based on a press release dated June 1st from the authorities, another suspect was apprehended under suspicion of Ms. Huggins murder.

 

 

 

Ms. Huggins was Nevis’ 1st homicide victim for 2024 but 13th for the Federation.
