Autopsy reveals cause of death for 91-year-old woman

A 91-year-old woman, who died in a house fire in St. Kitts, died from asphyxia (or suffocation) due to smoke inhalation, according to a report from the police.

 

 

 

Resident Pathologists, Dr. Adrian Nuñez and Dr. Naudica Phillip, conducted the autopsy.

 

 

 

Lawmen responded to a report of a house fire in Wades Garden that was received shortly before 3am on Monday August 21st.

 

 

 

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities observed a residential building to be ablaze. The St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services (SKNFRS) extinguished the blaze after which, ninety-one (91)-year old Devorita Weekes was discovered inside the house. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

 

 

The cause of the blaze remains unknown.
