Consumers in St. Kitts and Nevis are being encouraged to take advantage of the remaining Discounted Value Added Tax Rate Days (DVRDs) for 2026, as households continue to face financial pressures from global economic uncertainty.
The summer Back-to-School DVRD is scheduled for (today) Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th. Vehicles are excluded from the discounted VAT rate during these two days.
Another DVRD period will take place during the Christmas season on Friday, December 11th and Saturday, December 19th. Unlike the summer promotion, vehicles will be eligible for the discounted rate during the Christmas period.
The initiative comes as geopolitical tensions and ongoing supply-chain disruptions continue to pose challenges for economies worldwide, including St. Kitts and Nevis.
DVRDs are intended to help ease the financial burden on households while encouraging consumer spending and supporting local retailers during key seasonal periods.
With the Back-to-School period approaching, consumers are being urged to plan their purchases and make use of the available tax savings.
