BBW extends to small businesses

BBW has now been extended its services to small businesses, “ensuring that economic advantages permeate all levels of society”, a release from the Federal Government.

BBW (Budget Boost Wallet) is a short-term financial relief for citizens across the Federation. It offers EC$250 monthly for six months (January to June) to individuals earning EC $5,000 or less in gross income per month. Since its launch, over 20,000 individuals have successfully registered.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. Terrance Drew, stated last week that the initiative “ensures that the support reaches not just major supermarkets but also small community shops, farmers, and service providers. Everyone can participate, from the corner shop in St. Paul’s to the small farmer in Conaree.”

The Budget Boost Wallet remains open for registration, and businesses are encouraged to enroll as vendors to capitalize on increased consumer spending.

The funds can be used for essential expenses such as food, utilities, and mortgages through a seamless and secure cashless platform powered by local digital service provider JAD. The JAD app is available for download on mobile devices via Google Play Store. Individuals can contact the Ministry of Social Development at 467-1370 or 662-5993 (or via WhatsApp), for more information.
