Behavioural Health and Wellness Centre hosting Week of Activities in Recognition of World Mental Health Day
Behavioural Health and Wellness Centre hosting Week of Activities in Recognition of World Mental Health Day
A week of activities is currently underway on Nevis in observance of World Mental Health Day, celebrated annually on October 10th. The events are being hosted by the Behavioural Health and Wellness Centre (BHWC) under the local theme “Community.” Supervisor and Mental Health Counsellor at the Centre, Mr. McMillan Cuffy explains:
Mr. McMillan Cuffy. The week of activities began with a church service on Sunday, October 5th at the United Pentecostal Church in Marion Heights.
On Tuesday, October 7th, the BHWC will host free health screenings at the Cotton Ginnery Mall in Charlestown, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get checked.
World Mental Health Day will be on Friday, October 10th and the public is invited to wear green as a show of support for mental health awareness.
The week concludes on Saturday, October 11th, with the “Let’s Get Physical Walk” beginning at 5:30 a.m. at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park, where it will also end. Participants are encouraged to wear green and pre-register for a chance to receive a free t-shirt, while supplies last.
Also, throughout the week, daily mental health tips will be broadcast on VON Radio, aimed at supporting the public’s mental well-being, particularly during challenging times.
For more information, contact Mr. McMillan Cuffy or Mr. Oldain Claxton at the Centre by calling 469-5614.
