The federation has secured at least US $37 million in funding for the drilling phase: US$17 million from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and US$20 million from Saudi Fund for Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In March, the International Renewable Energy Agency-IRENA and an Icelandic delegation expressed strong support for the local geothermal project and committed to providing assistance, guidance, and training for local officials in geothermal-related fields.
It is the Federal Government and Nevis Island Administration (NIA’s) view, that by harnessing geothermal energy, it will transform the energy sector in SKN.
