C’bean Cove accident: man flown out to the Dom. Republic for specialized treatment
A man who suffered in an accident on Friday Jan. 17th, in the vicinity of Caribbean Cove, Nevis, was recently flown out of the Federation for further treatment.
The accident involved a motorcycle, PB-3743, owned and driven by Mr. Angel Carpio Calderon of Bath Village and a wall fence. He was accompanied by a pillion rider (passenger behind the motorcyclist), Mr. Byron Fabien of Ramsbury.
Both men were transported to the Alexandra Hospital for medical treatment. Mr. Calderon sustained critical injuries, including head trauma, fractures, and broken bones to his lower body and limbs. Mr. Fabien suffered minor injuries, including pain in his left hip and a cut on his left wrist. He was treated and discharged.
In an update about the accident one week later (Friday Jan. 24th), a police spokesperson told the VONNEWSLINE that Mr. Calderon suffered two broken legs. He was transferred over to the JNF General Hospital in St. Kitts for medical attention.
However, on Wednesday Jan. 22nd, he was flown out to the Dominican Republic for specialized treatment.
