Representatives from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), and Nevis Electricity Limited (NEVLEC) met to advance preparations for the next phase of Nevis’ Geothermal Project. That’s according to information from NEVLEC.

The discussions surrounded implementation planning, site readiness, transportation and access logistics, and the port’s preparedness to receive and mobilize the drilling rig and supporting equipment. Also, the delegation visited the proposed drilling site and port facilities to assess the work ahead.

This engagement follows the recent disbursement of funds under the Caribbean Development Bank financing agreement, marking another significant step as the project moves from planning to implementation.

Nevlec said on social media, “with the continued support of the Green Climate Fund, the Caribbean Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Nevis Island Administration, and NEVLEC as the Executing Agency, we are building a cleaner, more resilient, and energy-secure future for the Federation.”
