Central Street lady charged for Unlawful Communication

Lawmen have charged Kitana Ponde of Central Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts, with three (3) offences related to Unlawful Communication.

 

 

 

The three offences related are: to send an Electronic Communication to wit, a Video; to send an Electronic Communication to wit, a Picture; and to send an Electronic Communication to wit, a WhatsApp message with Intent to Harass.

 

 

 

The offences were committed between November 1st, 2023 and March 28th, 2024. Ms. Ponde’s charges were laid at the Basseterre Police Station on Friday April 12th.

 

 

 

The news of Ms. Ponde’s charge has caused a stir on social media as persons debate about the offences, gravity of the offences and question if it was a male, will the outcome be the same?

 

 

 

What is Unlawful Communication? Unlawful Communication is the use of a telephone or other electronic means to: communicate words or language of a profane or lewd nature, or convey a vulgar or immoral message to another person.

 

 

 

It can also be defined as one who threatens an unlawful act with the intent to coerce, as well as if a person makes false statements concerning the death or injury of a family member, with the intent to terrify the person.
