January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
As such, the Community Nursing Services here on Nevis will hold its annual Cervical Cancer Screening exercise (which includes free Pap Smear Screening) on Saturday, January 30th, at all Health Centers across the island.
Last year saw 113 persons screened during the annual Cervical Cancer Screening exercise.
The observance also serves as a chance to raise awareness about how women can protect themselves from Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Cervical Cancer.
HPV is the most common Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
Cervical Cancer is a type of Cancer that occurs in the cells of the Cervix — the lower part of the uterus that connects to the Vagina.
