According to a release from the Ministry of Finance in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) dated April 17th 2020, on the advice of Premier of Nevis, and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Mark Brantley, and the Cabinet of the NIA, monthly salaried workers and pensioners of the NIA will be paid on Monday, April 20th, instead of Friday, April 24th, 2020.
The decision was taken in light of the extraordinary financial burden that CoVID-19 has placed on the people of Nevis including our public servants.
The new date for the payment of salaries also coincides with the date that the Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board CoVID-19 Relief cheques will be made available to qualified beneficiaries.
Also, monthly salaried employees and pensioners of the Federal Government will be paid their monthly salaries and pensions on Monday, April 20th instead of Friday, April 24th, 2020.
The monthly payment to beneficiaries of the Government’s Poverty Alleviation Program will also be made on Monday, April 20th, 2020.
The Ministry of Finance has been directed by the Cabinet to arrange for the processing and payment of the monthly salaries, pensions and $500.00 poverty alleviation stipends to take place on Monday, to correspond with the start of the assigned shopping period next week.
