What is being done to control the flow of guns into St. Kitts and Nevis?
This was a question posed to Commissioner of Police in the Royal St. Kitts and Nevis Police Force, Mr. James Sutton, during a press conference held on Tuesday, March 28th at the Police Training Complex in Newtown, St. Kitts.
As of March 2023, nine (9) firearms have been taken into Police custody. In 2022, a total of seventeen (17) firearms were taken off the streets of communities around the Federation.
Meanwhile, the present murder toll for the Federation is 7. The last fatal shooting incident occurred in McKnight, St. Kitts on Monday, March 27th, and the Federation’s first double homicide took place over the weekend.
