Concerned citizen queries the STEP and government auxiliary workers status change

As of July 1st 2020, 3,000 Skills Empowerment Training Program (STEP) and government auxiliary workers were expecting to have their status changed.

The Team Unity Alliance’s Leader, Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, mentioned the aforementioned, during one of the coalition’s Political rallies, leading up to the June 5th General Election.

However, the status change has not yet occurred.

A concerned citizen brought this matter to Nevis’ Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Federal Government, the Hon. Mark Brantley, on the July 15th edition of the “On the Mark” program, on VON Radio 860 am.

The Premier gave this response:

He continued……

The Hon. Mark Brantley.

The People Employment Program (PEP) was established by the previous Labour Party-led administration as a short-term six months program in 2012 but went beyond the prescribed time.

In 2017, the Team Unity Administration renamed it the Skills Training Empowerment Program (STEP).
