Owners of medium, small and micro businesses can expect the aid of concessions following the ban of single use plastic in the federation. This is according to Minister of Sustainable Development, et.al, Hon. Joyelle Clarke.
During a Sitting of the National Assembly in March, the announcement was made for the ban on single-use plastics, structured in three phases and will affect the importation, sale, and distribution of several items including t-shirt plastic shopping bags, Styrofoam containers and single use cups, plates and utensils.
With the declaration made however, the question coming to the fore is: Will any measures be put in place to aid small businesses in the change of products and in what form will these measures take place? Minister Clarke however, assured all stakeholders that their interests are being taken into consideration with the government:
