Federal Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Marcus Natta.

The approval comes well in time and near the anniversary of the Buckley’s Uprising which took place at Buckley’s Estate in St. Kitts on January 28th, 1935.

The main objective of the revolt was for workers to receive the financial compensation they felt were due to them for the work done. The event was a pivotal part of the federation’s history as just about every estate on St. Kitts was affected by the strike with some decided to walk for their rights and many refusing to work.

The implementation of a Buckleys Uprising Monument Park Committee was also approved to oversee the work of the park and make it a facility of honor for those who fought and advocated for fair rights in the federation and on a whole, the Caribbean.
