Culturama comes to a close with its Troupes and Parade and Last Lap Jump up on Tuesday

The celebration of Culturama 49 came to an official close on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 with its Troupe and Parade and Last Lap Jump up.

The event saw an array of different cultural groups along with troupes representing different organizations and communities. The Charlestown area was lined with a kaleidoscope of colors as revelers brought down the curtains on the final event for the festival.

When speaking to the VONNEWSLINE about plans for next year’s celebration of Culturama 50, Minister of Culture, Hon. Eric Evelyn said it would be a homecoming celebration for persons in the diaspora and would see additional activities for the milestone.

This year’s edition of Culturama 49 was celebrated under the slogan “49 years of Mas and Spree, Culturama 2023”.

The results for the event are as followed: Road March Winner- The Kore Band. Folklore Winners- David’s Dynasty 1st place and Tropical Vybes Folklore Troupe 2nd place. Float Winners- Mango Fantasy 1st place and Proud Peacock 2nd. Fantasy winners- Four Season 1st place, Modern Day Mimes 2nd place and Royal Rampage 3rd place.
