Defence Force still investigating vessel capsizing incident off St. Kitts’ coast; Cameroonian still at large says Commander

During the press conference, Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, Mr. J. Anthony Comrie, gave an update as it relates to the vessel which capsized south of Conaree, St. Kitts and the Cameroon national that is still at large.

 

 

 

On March 28th, the St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard (SKNCG) responded to a call for help at sea and the situation turned out to be a rescue mission for a number of Cameroon nationals who were found alive after their boat capsized. The boat departed Antigua and Barbuda a few hours prior to the incident.

 

 

 

The fourteen who survived were taken to a detention facility in St. Kitts. However, on April 26th, nine of the individuals escaped from the detention facility in St. Kitts. Eight were found but Nicholas Areche still remains at large.

 

 

 

In his update, Commander Comrie said the force is still looking into the matter:
