Denaula C LaPlace: Winner of Independence 42 Theme Competition
The theme for this year’s Independence celebrations has been revealed: “Perpetual Progress – A Sustainable Future in View: Independence 42.”
The theme created by Ms. Denaula C LaPlace of Sandy Point, St. Kitts, was selected out of 250 submissions for the theme competition earning winnings of EC$1000.
Prime Minster of the Federation, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew expressed that the theme “captures the essence of our nation’s journey—steadfast growth rooted in sustainability.”
He continued “As we celebrate 42 years of sovereignty, this theme challenges us to forge a future where progress is balanced with environmental stewardship, economic resilience and social cohesion. It is a call to honour our past while innovating for generations to come.”
The official logo for the festivities has been revealed as well. The logo reads “42, St Kitts and Nevis, Anniversary of Independence” with the theme below. The number 2 on the logo depicts the National Bird of the federation – the Brown Pelican or Booby.
Meanwhile, with a calendar of activities throughout the month of September, Dr. Marcus L. Natta and Ms. Viera Galloway, Co-Chairs of the Independence 42 Organising Committee shared that “Every activity will echo the theme’s vision, ensuring that ‘perpetual progress’ becomes a lived reality for all citizens.”
