Department of Sports, winners of this year’s World Obesity Day Relay
In recognizing World Obesity Day, the annual “A Fun Run in the Sun” Activity was held on Friday by the Nevis Health Promotion Unit (HPU).
Participants for this year consisted of nine (9) teams of various businesses, department units as well as community groups. They were the Bank of Nevis, Department of Sports, NEVLEC, One Side, St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force – Nevis Division, TDC, Treasury and Unstoppables.
The champions were the Department of Sports, followed by the St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Force and the Community Group – One Side respectively.
Thereafter, the Ministry of Health-Nevis won its counterparts – the Ministry of Health-St. Kitts in an exhibition race.
The other activities included a “Park and Walk” and a “Step Quest” where prizes were distributed to participants.
World Obesity Day falls annually on March 4th, and calls for individuals, groups and institutions to increase awareness of the causes, risks and effects of obesity, promote healthy lifestyles and habits, as well as improve policies to tackle the global obesity crisis.
