Development Bank Awards 2025 Mental Health Grant to Youth Advocate Darin Connor

The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) has awarded its 2025 Mental Health Grant, valued at XCD$10,000, to youth advocate Darin Connor, highlighting both his leadership and the initiative’s mission to strengthen mental health systems in the Federation.

The grant is designed to provide financial support to individuals pursuing studies or projects that improve mental health services, while encouraging open dialogue and reducing stigma. Connor, a University of the Virgin Islands student, said the award reinforces the importance of making mental health conversations more accessible and widely accepted.

“This mental health grant means more than money; it is an objective, external vote of confidence that confirms a growing societal need to desensitize and make conversations about mental health ordinary rather than exceptional,” Connor shared.

Serving as LUIx–UNICEF Mental Health Focal Point, Connor represents St. Kitts and Nevis across more than 20 Caribbean nations, contributing to youth-focused programs and regional advocacy efforts. His leadership extends to student governance, where he has promoted wellness and peer support initiatives.
