Doctors Bring Two-in-One Cancer Screening to Nevis

On Saturday, January 10th, 2026, Urology Associates will host a 2 in 1 screening session beginning at 6:00a.m. at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park. The programme has been ongoing for almost 2 decades.

 

Prostate cancer screening for men 40 and over remains the cornerstone of the initiative. The tests allow clinicians to identify abnormalities early and determine whether further investigation, such as a biopsy, is needed. Organizers reported that last year, 633 people were screened. The lung cancer screening is open to both men and women, especially those over 45 with a history of smoking or exposure to inhalants. The screening will look for persons who have concerning symptoms, smoking history, and breathing issues such as chronic cough, snoring or sleep apnea. Nurse Patel had these words to say:

 

 

 

 Several suggestions were made that can decrease the likelihood of developing such diseases. Doctor Dwayne Thwaites shared this information about decreasing the likelihood of prostate cancer:

 

 

They also encouraged residents to adopt heart-healthy habits that also benefit the prostate and lungs, including regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating fresh fruits and vegetables while limiting fatty and fried foods.

 

 Traditional remedies, including herbal teas and steam inhalation, were also acknowledged as supportive practices, alongside modern medical follow-up and education.
