Tuesday April 22nd was recognized as Earth Day 2025, in St. Kitts and Nevis. This yearly celebration commenced in 1970 and aims to “drive positive action for our planet”.
The 2025 theme is: “Our Power, Our Planet”, which according to earthday.org calls “for everyone to unite around renewable energy so we can triple clean electricity by 2030”.
Federal Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Action, the Hon. Dr. Joyelle Clarke, stated “Today (and every day), let’s strive to be intentional and make mindful choices to conserve and preserve energy where we can. The Earth doesn’t need our celebration for one day – it needs our commitment every day!”
The non-profit organization: “Let’s Recycle Saint Kitts and Nevis” also recognized the occasion. They mentioned in a social media post: “Let’s take a moment to honor Mother Earth by making choices that nurture her — reduce waste, reuse what we can, recycle mindfully, and reconnect with nature.”
