A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded near St. Kitts and Nevis on Monday, January 29th, 2024.

According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC), the earthquake occurred at around 12:57 pm at latitude: 18.00N and longitude: 62.74W and at a depth of 20 kilometres.

UWI-SRC said the quake was 77km N of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.

The quake was also felt in other islands in the Eastern Caribbean , recorded 138km NW of St. John’s Antigua and Barbuda and 145km NW of Brades Montserrat.

This was the 12th earthquake recorded in the region by the UWI-SRC for the month of January.
